How StayBee handles your data.
This policy explains what we collect when you browse stays, book a home, or host on StayBee, why we collect it, and the control you have over it.
Last updated 17 August 2026
What we collect
We only collect what the marketplace needs to work. Nothing on StayBee is sold to data brokers or advertising networks.
- Account details — name, email address, password hash, and role (guest, host, or admin).
- Host profile details — contact number and the property information you publish, including photos.
- Booking details — dates, guest count, unit selection, price at time of booking, and any message you send a host.
- Reviews and reports you submit about a stay or a listing.
- Basic technical data — IP address, device and browser type, and pages viewed, used for security and to fix errors.
How we use it
- To create your account, keep you signed in, and show you the right dashboard.
- To publish listings, process booking requests, and connect guests with hosts.
- To display ratings, reviews, and verification badges that help guests judge a listing.
- To investigate reports, prevent fraud, and remove listings that break our rules.
- Staff read a host–guest conversation only when one of its participants reports it or a booking is in dispute. Each such access is recorded. We do not otherwise monitor messages.
- To send transactional email about your bookings, listings, or account security.
What other people can see
A published listing is public: its title, description, photos, area, amenities, price, and rating are visible to anyone. Your host display name and rating are shown alongside it.
When you request a booking, the host receives your name, contact details, dates, and guest count so they can host you. Guests never see a host's private contact details until a booking is confirmed.
Reviews are published under your display name. We do not publish your email address, phone number, or exact address of your home to anyone who has not booked it.
Sharing with third parties
We share data with a small set of service providers strictly to run the platform:
- Cloud hosting and managed database providers that store the platform's data.
- Object storage for listing photos you upload.
- Email delivery for transactional messages.
- Law enforcement or regulators, where we are legally required to respond to a valid request.
How long we keep it
Account and listing data is kept while your account is active. Booking records are retained for up to seven years to meet tax and accounting obligations in India, even after an account is closed.
Technical logs are retained for 90 days. Reports and safety investigations are retained for as long as needed to keep repeat offenders off the platform.
Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete your personal data, withdraw consent, or ask for a copy of what we hold. Most of it you can edit yourself from your dashboard.
For anything else, write to privacy@staybee.in and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate to the relevant data protection authority.
Cookies
StayBee sets a session cookie so you stay signed in, and remembers basic display preferences. We do not run third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Blocking the session cookie will prevent you from signing in.
Security
Passwords are hashed, traffic is encrypted in transit, and access to production data is restricted to the people who operate the platform. No system is perfect — if we discover a breach affecting your data, we will notify you and the appropriate authority.
Changes and contact
We will post any material change to this policy on this page and update the date above. Questions go to privacy@staybee.in.
